Mommy's Run

I haven't posted much about this because I hate to be a downer, so I'll give you the abbreviated, positive version: Mommy is running a marathon on January 17, 2010 and is running on behalf of the American Cancer Society. She has to meet a fundraising goal of $1,000.00 and is already almost 1/2 way there. She's running this on behalf of all of those who have been impacted by cancer in some way (sad as it is, it feels like we all have).

Anyway, I know times are tough, but Mommy would appreciate anything you can donate to help out the American Cancer Society and support those impacted by cancer.

Donate here: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/DetermiNation/CRFY09GreatWest?px=12752812&pg=personal&fr_id=19671&fl=en_US&et=4NN4G9xDQPMNC8XcDNvo_w..&s_tafId=345208

And please include the name(s) of people you'd like Mommy to run for. She will be wearing a Tshirt on race day that will include everyone she's running In Honor of and In Memory of.

Play Time!

What a busy weekend for us! Wednesday night, Nancy and Bill arrived from MS to visit with Nana and Poppy. They also spent the day with Spencer on Thursday and got to enjoy him in all his fun, silly glory! Saturday marked the start of college football (I guess it was technically Thurs. night, but whatever). Mommy and Daddy were off to the ASU game, where Mommy could finally tailgate again. Woo hoo! Unfortunately, her tailgatin' buddy is preggers this year - of course!!

Uncle Lou-Lou got some quality time with Mr. Monkey on Saturday and was an awesome "Ma-nny" for us!

Then Sunday we took off to the hills (to Pine) to meet up with Nana, Poppy, Nancy and Bill and also Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Perry. We left Monkey with Grandma and the older boys, and went on this awesome hike through a canyon. Daddy looked like a spider scaling the walls of the canyon, and Mommy was a chicken-head who stopped 1/2 way through it! See the pics:

Monday we came home and hopped in the pool with our little Monkey. Look at him having fun in there:

I also got this cute shot of Monkey and Grandpa George. Monkey Out.

And, most importantly, our 'CANES put the beat down on the 'Noles last night! Woo hoo, what a GREAT game! They looked great, and are going to be a fun team to watch this year. College football rocks, and Mommy is excited it's back :)

Standing & More Words!

Take a look at how I found Mr. Monkey yesterday morning...

And he was like that this morning too. There goes any hopes of him going back to sleep after he wakes up!

Oh, and he's also added ba-ba, and pa-pa to his vocabulary. Still no ma-ma though! Grrrr....! I'm not sure he's talking about anything in particular, but he's definitely trying to tell us something!

Da-Da

I can't be 100% certain, but it appears as if Monkey is saying Da-Da. He screams it, whispers it and says it all the time. He says it when he's looking at Daddy, but he also says it when looking at Grandpa. I don't know if it's just his newest sound, or if he really means to say Daddy. In any event, that's his most recent update. I'll try to get it on video this weekend :)

Other than that, the Leach family is looking forward to football season starting soon! Next weekend begins the ASU Saturday night games and tailgate that goes with it. Woo hoo!

Oh, and tomorrow Grandma Cindy is coming to take care of Spencer. She's going to be watching him on Fridays for a while - I think she was getting jealous of all the time Nana and Poppy have with him ;)

Sitting, Standing, What Next?!

Sorry I've been a bad blogger lately.  We've had a lot going on.  Spencer started his new room at daycare last week, and that was a bit of an adjustment.  He's doing great in there though, it just took a few days to get the teachers to understand his schedule.  He's also got a little bit of a cold again, no surprise there!  We're still only on 2 teeth, but I know those top 2 are ready to poke through any day now.
See, there he is sitting up!  (yes, it takes until the last 30 sec. of the video to actually see the sitting).  He's also standing up on his own.  I found him in his crib this morning holding onto the railing standing and yelling at me to pick. him. up!

Other than that, things are good in the life of the Leach family.  Spencer's got a few newborn friends to play with one of these days.  The DeBruin's welcomed Baby Boy Brayden and the Williams' welcomed Baby Girl Emery last week.  Can't wait to get them all together one of these days :)  And no, there is no new Baby Leach on the way.  Although the little ones were cute ;)

Happy 8 months, little Monkey!

Today Spencer is 8 months old! Wow, where has the time gone? Let's take a moment to highlight all that he has accomplished in this past 8 months:
1. He is growing like a champ, weighing in at over 20 lbs these days;
2. He is talking, although I do not understand what he's saying. He does say "da-da-da" a lot when he's angry - go figure;
3. He is pulling himself to standing;
4. He is sitting, and *almost* able to sit up from the down position;
5. He is most decidedly inch-worming his way around the house;
6. 2 teeth, and I think 2 more on the way;
7. His laugh and smiles melt my heart!

Happy 8 months, little Monkey! I love you!!

2nd Tooth and a Scoot

While Mommy and Daddy were killing themselves walking all over DC this weekend, Monkey's second tooth popped through.  He also is decidedly scooting, if not an odd variation to a real crawl.  I can't quite tell, and I'm no pro here, so you tell me: is it a scoot or a crawl?  Either way, I think the "real" crawl is *just* around the corner!

This week brings Monkey's 2 weeks off of daycare.  So Mommy is working from home this week, with some help from Grandma Cindy on an as-needed basis.  Next week is Daddy's week.  Should be an interesting couple of weeks, to say the least!

Anyhoo...tell me, scoot or odd crawl variation?

PS - the actual scooting/crawling doesn't begin until just past the 1 minute mark.  Be patient with him, he's a baby.
