Horrible Blogger...Busy New Mommy!

OK, so I have been awful at keeping up with the blog lately. I apologize! To make up for it, here are some videos of Monkey having fun at the All-Star Fan Fest yesterday - we have a budding baseball player in the house - as well as some still shots of Morgan (she doesn't do much yet).

2 week check-up

All's good in the world of Morgan! We had her 2 weeks appt. today, and everything looks great. She is gaining weight EXTREMELY well (weighing in at 8 lbs, 3 oz. today) and seems to have no problems whatsoever :) Some new pics to celebrate!

Morgan Elizabeth Has Arrived!!

Baby #2 made her appearance into this world on May 24, 2011 at 7:51 a.m., weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs, 9 oz. (almost a full lb heavier than her big brother) and 20" long. She has dark-ish hair, and steely grey blue eyes. She is perfect in every way, shape and form. She's not quite a week old yet, and she's been such a great baby. She sleeps pretty good at night, getting up at around 1am and again at 4am for some grub. She is fairly low-maintenance during the day too - hardly cries unless she's hungry. Her one fault, if you can call it that, is that she likes to be held. A lot. But hey, I'll oblige!

Big Brother is AMAZING with her!! He loves his "baby sister." He brings her toys, always asks about her if he can't see her right away "where baby sister at?" is a favorite of his. At bedtime, we all put him to bed: Daddy carries him, and Mommy and baby sister go in to say goodnight. He gives her kisses and tickles her toes. It's adorable. I couldn't be more blessed with such a good son/daughter combo. I hope they stay this way forever :)

Mommy is doing well. I ended up with a repeat c-section, which was what we had planned. Turned out to be an excellent option as I apparently had a "window" in my uterus that could have caused a rupture if I had labored with her at all. So, all in all that was a good call! Recovery this time has gone much easier as well. I was only on very limited pain meds, and didn't really need much stronger stuff. I was walking the floors way quicker than I did after I had Spencer, and I feel pretty good now. I'm off of all pain meds! Woo hoo!! Now, to start thinking about losing this excess baby weight...

Of course, here's what you all are waiting for. Pictures!!!

Other Easter Pics

Easter Sunday we went to church, then went to our "new" house and had an Easter egg hunt in the yard. We spent the afternoon with family at Gladys and Joel's house with a fairly crabby monkey who had a late nap in the car on the way out there. Nevertheless, it was a good time! Here are some pictures from the day. Oh, and we had a birthday party for Ava (who is 4, and Spencer will tell you that Ava is 4) at Pump It Up. You be the judge of who had more fun, Monkey, or Daddy?

"Tickets Please"

Had to give a quick mention on this one. Monkey walks around the house saying "tickets, please" in a super deep voice. If you repeat after him, he will tell you "No, I the conductor." So yeah, we've got a train conductor on our hands. One who thinks he will see dinosaurs when he rides the train, and he may or may not go through a time tunnel to get where he wants to go.

Update on us

So...we bought a new house and we're moving! Oh yeah, and we're having a baby here in about 5 weeks. The move won't happen until sometime late summer, so it's not too much pressure now with baby's impending arrival. We're going to be working on fixing it up over the summer, so we will have an almost-brand-new home to move into. Yippee!! I'm very excited about the move. It has a big yard that Monkey loves to run around in, and it's in a great neighborhood!

Spencer is in full on potty training mode. He started it on his own. Well, we have been putting him on the potty for a long time now before bath each night to get him used to it, and having lenghty discussions about which undies are the coolest (right now it's Lightning McQueen, FYI). But one night before bed he asked to go on the potty, we went, he peed, and he's been pretty good ever since. Yes, we have had some hiccups along the way (like the 5 pairs of undies he went through in a 2 hour time span over the weekend). But for the most part, he's doing really well with it! At only 2 years and 4 months, that's pretty good. He has to be trained by the time he moves to his new room at school in August, so this is all good news for us!

In other Monkey news, he is talking up a storm. You can understand almost everything he says, and he says random things out of the blue. As we were driving to school the other day he busted out with "Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!" He also sings along to the theme songs from Thomas and Friends and Dinosaur Train (notice a transportation theme there?!). This also comes with some bad - last night he told me to "leave me alone." He didn't want me putting on his PJs. He also says "I do it" when he doesn't want my help. I think my favorite saying of his right now is "I need..." He uses it instead of "I want." So, he NEEDS his milk when he gets home from school. He NEEDS his Percy train to take in the car with him. It cracks me up.

Baby is doing good. We had her 34 week visit today, and are still on scheduled for her arrival May 24. She is apparently a big baby, as the doc mentioned today. Otherwise, nothing exciting there to report.

Down for the count

After the last post, we have been dealing with the sickies in our house. First, it was Monkey. He had a constant "booger nose" that he would tell you about. He also had some bad tummy issues, and just was NOT feeling good. He seems to be over it for the most part, but still has "booger nose," which will probably last until summer is here.

Then Mommy got hit. Ugh! I'm still on the mend, but doing a lot better.

Baby girl has been growing and moving around like crazy. Apparently my sickies don't affect her in the least!

On a sadder note, we lost Travis' grandmother this weekend. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all of us!

Hopefully our next post will have more cheery news :)

Muscles

It's been a while since you've seen the Monkey. He is doing great! He's expanding his vocabulary so fast. Today he asked me, in a complete sentence, "where are we going?" Granted, we were on the way to school, where we go every morning, but it was a good sentence! He also likes to have me "watch" him, tells me to "come on, mommy, play" and other fun stuff. Here here is showing off his "muscles."

Baby Update!

We are 23 weeks into this pregnancy. She's been moving around like crazy lately, and I love every minute of it!

Monkey is adorable with my belly. He keeps telling me "baby sister" and points to my belly (and sometimes his). He also knows and says her name. It's too cute.

We have an official birthdate now too - provided she doesn't decide to come early. As it stands, she'll be here May 24, 2011. Another Gemini in the family :)

Monkey-isms

This was Daddy's idea, to list all the funny things that Monkey says. Daddy's favorite is that he calls birds "mee mee"s. To the point where he will see a bird nest and say "mee mee nest." We're hoping he keeps that up until college.

Also on the list:
* "Nope" in a very definite way.
* "Yes" in an equally definite way.
* "Dadoo" that's Thank you. He's pretty good about saying it without a prompt. He says it after I tell him "bless you" when he sneezes.
* "Peas" is Please. He almost expects you to do whatever he is asking for if he says Please, because, after all, he said "please."!
* "Eebra" is Zebra.
* "Aminals" are animals. Also, the zoo.
* "ights" are lights. Christmas lights in particular. He also really loves the house down the street with the "purple ights."
* "cersops" is tricerotops - one of his dinosaurs. "T-Rex" is also on the list of dinos.
* "Bobby" is his lovey. No idea where he came up with the name "bobby," but it's stuck!
* He sings "Happy Birthday" and the Monkeys on the Bed song. It's particularly cute when he points his finger at you and tells you "No monkeys bed."
* He knows all of his Sesame Street characters and has particular affinity for Elmo "Ebo" and Abby.
* He also loves Thomas the Train and his Percy. He knows their names too. And he will ask you to "pay Thomas" = "play with Thomas."
* He says Moon and Sun and Stars. He knows where they all are too.
* One of his favorite things these days to do is get in a basket and tell Daddy to "peez" pick him up and run him around.
* He also likes to turn the Christmas lights on on the tree.
* His birthday morning, he ran into the room and said "Daddy presents open."
* Crockett, the dog, is "Crocky."
* He heard me call Daddy Travis the other day, and started calling him "Travis" too!
* We were trying to tell him to be careful with the ornaments for the Christmas tree, and he now says "Careful Mommy's balls." Nice.
* He sings "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bells." It's adorable (see videos below).

That's all I can come up with right now. I'll let Travis (I mean Daddy) chime in in a later post with others!

Oh yeah, I really am pregnant.

I know this blog is all about Monkey. And I didn't have it when I was pregnant with him. But I'm pregnant with #2, and I feel like I should blog about her here a bit too.

On Dec. 27th, we found out for sure that she is, indeed, a she. Let the shopping begin :) Just a few days before that, I really started feeling her move too. It was some light taps and jabs at first, and last night, I felt a full "roll" in there. It's so fun feeling those movements, letting me know she's safe and sound! And she's polite too - she hasn't disturbed me while I'm sleeping (yet).

And I think that's about it. I have been feeling fine. I get a little dizzy/lightheaded here and there with quick movements, but that's to be expected. Other than that, I have nothing to report. Just awaiting her arrival, but in NO rush for it to get here.

So, from now on, you'll hear mostly about Monkey, but a little bit about Baby Girl too. And, here's a belly shot of me on New Year's Eve. 18 weeks and a few days.
