Stat Update
Yesterday he turned 7 weeks old!
Newborn sized pants fit him like shorts. Newborn sized onesies fit him like muscle tees. I guess I can pack those bad boys up.
In other news, his eye is all better. We've moved on to Zantac (from the Axid) and have only given him 2 doses, but I feel like there's been an improvement already. Last night he slept from 9:45-1:45, woke up, ate, and slept until 3:45. Then he woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep unless he was cuddling with Mommy. So we slept from 4ish-5:45 together. Yes, we started our day at 5:45. If you know Mommy, you are about as shocked as Daddy was to find Mommy and Spencer sitting on the couch hanging out when he woke up at 7 this morning. To be fair, Mommy and Spencer both took much-needed naps from 7ish to 10.
Up this weekend: Nana and Poppy are moving to town! They will be here on Tues. Grandma Cindy is watching Spencer tomorrow while Mommy and Daddy go to the Open. And Sunday's HUGE here - the Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl!
GO CARDS!

Chillin' In the Bumpo
His eye is looking MUCH better these days. He's still a little stuffy from the cold, but I think it's on it's way out. It's certainly not keeping him down!
As for the tummy issues...well...I just don't know what's going on with that. At times it seems like the medicine is working. At other times, I almost feel like he's worse than he was last week! Per the doc's instructions, I am giving it tomorrow and then giving him a call.

Super Bowl Bound
Also, as a shout out to Daddy who we just saw on TV at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL.

Reflux. Clogged Tear Duct. Cold.
With all those things going on, I decided he better see the doc today. They got him in ASAP (yay docs!).
The Verdict: his gas is actually reflux, so we now have our 5 1/2 week old baby on antacid (I swear he's not 65). We have ointment for his eye to unclog the duct. Oh yeah, and that cold? Just let it run it's course.
Supposedly by Friday this kid will be like new. No gas, tummy problems and no gross eye boogers. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, how about this cute pic from back in the day:

Tummy Time!
Yesterday we also met up with Juliet and Julie for lunch, although since Spencer was sound asleep the entire time, there were no pictures or formal introductions. Guess that'll happen soon enough.
In other news, Mommy is now sick with Daddy's cold and is just hoping and praying that Spencer doesn't get it. So far, he seems fine. Because of Mommy's cold, we had to cancel our play date with Paige and Sarah today and reschedule for next week while Daddy is out of town. Yes, that's right. Daddy is leaving us all alone for 2 full nights and 3 full days. I think we'll survive, but I can't guarantee how Mommy will look when it's all said and done!

Weekend Recap
Daddy is sick (has a cold), so we didn't do anything on Friday night except try to keep him away from Spencer (and Mommy). Saturday, Daddy and Mommy went to the ASU PAC-10 home opener in basketball, where ASU KILLED the Oregon Ducks, while Grandpa George watched Spencer for 4 full hours, and 2 feedings. It went great, and Grandpa has volunteered to watch him again while Mommy and Daddy go to the NFC Championship game next weekend!
Saturday afternoon/evening, Spencer hosted his first baby party, which also coincided with the Arizona Cardinals game against the Carolina Panthers and his one month birthday! We had the Mockbee family over, with Brayden (6 mo.), and the Gray family over with Caleb (who will be 4 in a few days) and Conner (who is just 3 days younger than little Spencer) to celebrate. The house was chaotic, and it took a few tries to get all the babies up and not crying at the same time, but we managed. How cute it this...
If you don't have a baby, you weren't invited ;)
All that excitement tuckered him out:
And, I just couldn't resist posting this one of my little butterball, who weighed in at a whopping 9.5 lbs this morning:

We are the Champions!!
Yes, Spencer looks a little scared, but I think he was just mesmerized by the fanfare that is a Gator game on the TV.
Yesterday we also attempted some tummy time, but Spencer wasn't having any of it. He wanted to nap, and by golly, nap he would.
I just really liked this photo because that's him in a newborn outfit - totally fitting perfectly and about to be outgrown in like, a day!
Last night was a rough night. Spencer had some major gas issues which woke him (and Mommy) up every hour. So today our plan is to just take it easy and let Mommy get some nice naps in. Hope that plan works out!

We're Bloggers Now!
4 weeks later, Spencer has upped the weight to (I believe) around 8 lbs, and is too long for his newborn clothes - well, his legs are, he's still fitting in the newbies onsies. My super advanced measuring skills place him at 21 1/2 inches (this via a yard stick placed next to him in the crib while stretching out his frog legs*). So he's grown an inch and a half in one month?! However, he has managed to make his way into the 0-3 month sweatsuits, thereby prompting this school-spirited photo I shot yesterday:
(pardon the quality, this was taken via cell phone).
*frog legs is a term used by highly educated hospital staff to describe a breech baby's legs, not something degrading I am calling my child.
I won't regale you with all that's happened in the last 4 weeks, but here's a quick photo journey for fun.

And a quick little update on our life today. We went to the office to visit (show off) my adorable offspring to all mine and Daddy's co-workers. Of course, Spencer was met with rounds of "he's such a beautiful baby" and I was met with "wow, I can't believe how good you look." That was encouraging! Then we went to lunch with Kim, who just had baby Miles 3 months ago (future bestie?).
Yesterday, we had our very first playdate with Paige Dorn, est. 12/11/08 as well. While she was born a mere 5 hours before Spencer, she still weighs less than him and looks so tiny! Neither one of the kiddos woke up to actually acknowledge thier playdate, but Mommy took a photo to memorialize it. See below:
And that's all for today. Check back in regularly for updates (which will be more regular while Mommy's on leave).
